CANACONA: In a FIR registered by Canacona Police, three Khotigao residents are booked for obstructing Forest staff while discharging their official duty in the village.
According to Canacona Police, upon the complaint from Anand S. Mestri, Range Forest Officer, Khotigao Canacona, to the effect that on 23.02.2025 at 10.35 hrs at Survey No. 134, of Village Khotigao Canacona, the on duty staff namely Suresh Gaonkar, Beat Guard and Umakant Gaonkar, Trekker of Khotigao Wild life Sanctuary, Khotigao, Canacona were discharging their official duty by supervising the ongoing work of digging the foundation for the Anti-Poaching camp.
Police further stated that the accused persons namely Umesh @ Daya Tolu Gaonkar, r/o Edda, Khotigao Canacona, Gajanan Velip r/o Kuskem Khotigao, Canacona and Kalpesh Gaonkar r/o Baddem, Khotigao, Canacona with their common intention started arguing with the above staff of forest officials and obstructed them from discharging their duty and forcefully stopped the ongoing work. The complaint further alleges that the 3 accused persons snatched the keys of the JCB used to do the work and thereafter threatened the JCB driver and forced him to refill the dug-out foundation for the anti-poaching camp.
Police booked the three U/s 132, 351(3) r/w 3(5) of BNS 2023 and further investigation is carried out by PSI, Rajasekhar Reddy of Canacona Police Station.
