CANACONA: In a joint operation, the Canacona Police and the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Panaji, conducted inspection drives at hotels, guest houses, and resorts in Agonda to ensure compliance with immigration regulations, particularly concerning the registration of foreign nationals.
According to police sources, the drive focused on verifying whether hospitality establishments were submitting Form ‘C’ within 24 hours of a foreign national’s check-in and updating departure details upon their checkout, as mandated under the Registration of Foreigners Rules, 1992.
A total of 110 establishments were inspected during the operation, and records of around 70 foreign nationals were scrutinized.
Police officials also used the opportunity to sensitize owners and managers about the importance of adhering strictly to the prescribed legal procedures. Clear instructions were issued, warning that non-compliance would invite legal action under the applicable laws.
“The exercise is aimed at strengthening national security measures and maintaining a safe and lawful environment for both residents and foreign visitors,” an official said.
The Canacona Police and FRRO have indicated that such inspection drives will continue as part of ongoing efforts to ensure full compliance with immigration laws.
