CANACONA- A Car from Telangana State is stopped at Polem Checkpost border for displaying a ‘Police’ sticker on its rear glass at Goa’s border Check Post at Polem in Canacona on Friday morning.
The Car bearing registration No.TS06 EZ1314 coming from Karwar headed into Goa was stopped for routine checkup before being allowed entry into Goa State at Polem checkpost.’
While the concerned sleuths had a thorough check-in of the Car, which is being routinely carried-out nowadays on every vehicle entering the State in view of Lok Sabha Polls, it was noticed that the Car had stickers of ‘Police’ and a large ‘L’ written/pasted with red radium tape on its rear side glass. When the police on duty enquired as to which police station the Car belongs to and whether the occupants of the car are police personnel, the occupants who were mostly youths went clueless. The youths began to say, they can’t speak or understand Hindi, English, nor Konkani and Marathi, which the checkpost manning personnel could converse with.
One of the youth later in a broken Hindi and English stated that his father is a Policeman and the Car is in his name and he is back home in Telangana. However, when threatened of initiating further action for illegally displaying ‘Police’ sticker on the Car violating the motor vehicles rules, the youth offered to remove the Sticker and began to remove the radium tape. The youth stating his ‘Daddy’ is not in the Car, but back home also pleaded for forgiveness stating it has happened as he has no knowledge that writing ‘Police’ on private Car is illegal and not permitted. The youth with a group of youngsters wee allowed to proceed after removal of the word ‘Police’ from the Car.
Incidentally, besides Canacona police a team of CRPF platoon is also stationed at Polem border check post which checks and inspects every vehicle entering the State from Karnataka into Goa. There is also an CEC order that anyone found in cash over Rs.50000 would be questioned for the source and purpose.
