CANACONA: Canacona police have registered a case against a local resident for allegedly abusing, threatening, and wrongfully restraining a woman doctor from accessing her own residence.
According to police sources, Dr. Rajlaxmi Rubalingam, a resident of Canacona, lodged a complaint stating that between February 11 and April 22, 2025, one Conceicao Viegas verbally abused her using filthy language and threatened her to vacate the house.
When the complainant refused to vacate, the accused allegedly locked the main gate of the property, thereby wrongfully restraining Dr. Rubalingam from entering her residence.
The complainant further alleged that the accused formed a criminal conspiracy by hiring two unknown men who stalked, threatened, and assaulted her. Police are probing the involvement of these unidentified individuals.
Canacona Police have registered the case under Sections 356(ii), 352, 351(ii), 115(2), 126(ii), 78(2) read with 61(2)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. PSI Ramdas B. Doifode is leading the investigation.
