Stating that Goa Miles, app based taxi service, cannot be scrapped, Minister for Ports Michael Lobo has urged tourist taxi operators to install meters thereby allowing a queue based system outside hotels to entertain customers.
Speaking to reporters, Lobo said that Goa Miles cannot be scrapped. He said that the taxi operators will have to install meters and the government can make the required rule allowing these taxis, in queue, infront of the hotels to provide service to the customers.
He said that he has taken up the matter with the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, requesting him to work out a permanent solution, so that, any decision, is in favour of taxi operators.
Lobo said that in Goa, several tourists make use of rent a car or bike or come in their own vehicles. Tourist taxis get limited business and due to COVID pandemic, they have suffered economically, he said adding that the government will have to give them some benefit.
Further, speaking on cabinet reshuffle, Lobo said that the party and CM has taken a decision not to reshuffle the cabinet.
