BICHOLIM: A 65-year-old scooter rider and his pillion sustained injuries after their two-wheeler was hit by a car driven in a rash and negligent manner at Muslimwada, Bicholim, last month.
Police said the accident occurred on August 1 around 11.53 am when the driver of a Baleno car (GA-04-H-2716), identified as Sahebgouda Damnal of Vijayapura, Karnataka, allegedly rammed into an Activa scooter (GA-04-N-5549) while overtaking near a washing centre.
The rider, Prakash Parab (65) of Madhalawada, Sal-Bicholim, sustained a fracture injury to his right leg and is undergoing treatment at Vision Hospital, Mapusa. The pillion rider, Sushma Sawardekar (45) of Mayem, suffered a head injury and was discharged after treatment at GMC Bambolim.
Following inquiry, Bicholim Police arrested Damnal on September 3 at 10.57 pm under charges of rash and negligent driving but released him on bail the same day.
Further investigation is being conducted by HC Yuvaraj Naik of Bicholim Police Station.
