CHIMBEL: Old Goa Police have registered a case against an unknown driver and a female co-passenger for allegedly assaulting a government officer and fleeing the scene after ramming into his vehicle near Chimbel Overbridge.
The incident occurred on June 19 at around 4:16 PM when Executive Engineer-XV of the Electricity Department, Shri Kashinath Jairam Shetye, was on duty near Chimbel, Ribandar. According to the police complaint, the driver of a car bearing registration number GA-02-F-7299 was driving in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life. The vehicle reportedly hit Shetye’s official car (GA-07-G-2648) on the driver’s side door.
Following the collision, two individuals — the male driver and a female co-passenger of the offending vehicle — allegedly assaulted Shetye, restrained him from performing his official duties, pushed him, and issued threats of dire consequences. The duo then fled the spot in their vehicle.
Based on Shetye’s complaint, Old Goa Police registered FIR No. 90/2025 under Sections 281, 125, 126(2), 131, and 132 read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The investigation is being led by PSI Edwin Dias.
