MOIRA: Fire completely destroyed a four-wheeler in Moira on Monday afternoon, leading to an estimated loss of Rs 6 lakh.
A nearby vehicle also incurred damage, but thanks to the efforts of fire personnel, property valued at Rs 10 lakh was saved.
The blaze broke out around 3:55 pm when flames were first spotted in the bonnet of a stationary car. The fire rapidly spread, consuming the vehicle and threatening another car parked close by. However, prompt action enabled firefighters to relocate the second vehicle to safety.
After getting the call, the Mapusa fire team, led by Suraj Shetgaonkar and supported by firefighters Anand Bandekar, Sunil Banaulikar, Bhagwan Palni, and Siddesh Shet, hurried to the location.
In spite of their endeavors, the first vehicle was completely consumed by the fire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
The Mapusa police performed a panchanama and have begun additional inquiries to establish the precise cause of the fire, which is still unclear at this moment.
