We will undertake work taking people into confidence, and as per their demands. Carambolim lake project will benefit the villagers. By next year in May beautification works will be completed. It will bring employment and business opportunities for locals. The railway station is nearby.Restaurants will benefit, local produce will be in demand. Boating activities will be introduced, tourists will come. Taxi operators will benefit. Carambolim will be world famous. It’s our vision,” he said.
He thanked the minister for undertaking various works in the constituency.
“The Minister is quick in his work. He takes decisions fast. Because of you, this Carambolim work which has been pending for so long will finally be completed. When I had apprised the Minister about the threat to houses due to the damaged bundh due to flooding in monsoon, he immediately agreed to take up the work on priority. Even for Ganesh Visarjan, we made elaborate arrangements. People used to face hurdles in carrying Ganesh idols for immersion, they had to traverse along rocky terrain. I thank him for this,” he said.
Shirodkar instructed the contractor to undertake quality work and assured to take an active interest in the project.
“We need to conserve this lake. There will also be a sluice gate construction. The work should be of good quality and beautiful, and it should last for more than 20 years. I will come in between to inspect the ongoing work. Mud will be excavated from the lake. As many birds come here, people come to these see these birds. Hence, small islands will be created in the lake for these birds. Any suggestions can be sent to me via the MLA and sarpanch,” he said.
