Mapusa:
Aldona MLA Adv. Carlos Alvares Ferreira has demanded the immediate removal of PSI Bablo Parab as the investigating officer in the brutal assault case involving Bastora resident Vivek Shirodkar and his pregnant wife, alleging serious lapses in the police probe and political interference shielding the accused.
Ferreira visited the Mapusa Police Station on Wednesday, accompanied by family members of the victims, and met with the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), Mapusa, and the PI of Anjuna Police Station, who is currently in charge of Mapusa PS. During the meeting, the MLA expressed his dissatisfaction with PSI Parab’s handling of the investigation and urged senior police officials to replace him, citing what he described as “valid and serious reasons” for the officer’s removal.
“Such police officers need to be terminated from service,” Ferreira said, strongly criticizing the alleged inaction and inefficiency in the probe so far.
Later, after visiting the victims in hospital, Ferreira revealed that an advocate—who is also a member of the main accused’s family—is allegedly involved in the attack. He further alleged that the accused are being protected by a political “godfather,” whose influence, he said, must be exposed and neutralized.
“I will not tolerate goondagiri, especially when a pregnant woman has been assaulted. The accused must face justice,” Ferreira stated, pledging full support to the Shirodkar family.
The assault, which occurred in Bastora on Tuesday night, has triggered public outrage and raised concerns about law and order in the area. Police have yet to officially comment on the MLA’s allegations or the status of the investigation.
