PONDA: MLA and Advocate Carlos Ferreira reacted to the dismissal of his appeal regarding the nomination dispute, stating that he respects the legal process but continues to stand by his position on transparency.
Carlos said his objections to the nomination were initially reviewed and accepted, before the matter was later challenged in the High Court. He maintained that accuracy in documents submitted during elections is crucial.
He clarified that non-disclosure of assets and liabilities may not necessarily be grounds for rejecting a nomination, but such information should be made public in the interest of voters.
Highlighting the broader issue, Carlos referred to a ₹22.97 crore award by the Lokmanya Multipurpose Cooperative Society to individuals including Gitesh Gokuldas Naik and Abhijeet Anand Naik Chirvankar, stressing the need for greater transparency in public life.
He added that accountability and full disclosure remain key to maintaining trust in the electoral process.
