MARGAO: In a heart-stopping display of skill and determination, Carmona Sports Club emerged victorious over Ugem Rising Club in a penalty shootout, securing their spot in the quarterfinals of the 33rd Arlem Rolling Trophy. This thrilling match was part of an esteemed tournament organized by the Arlem Youth Association, held at the Raia Panchayat ground.
The intensity of the game was palpable from the outset. Carmona Sports Club initially took control with Mayen Gracias scoring a decisive goal in the 37th minute. However, Ugem Rising Club refused to back down, with Austin Couthino leveling the score in the 51st minute. As the match progressed, neither team could find the winning goal, leading to a nail-biting penalty shootout.
Carmona SC demonstrated remarkable composure in the shootout, with Christbern Estibeiro, Stamford Fernandes, Mayen Gracias, and Delzan Passanha successfully converting their penalties. On the other side, Milford Dias and Handlee Carvalho scored for Ugem Rising Club. The standout performance of Dezwin Dias from Carmona earned him the man of the match award, presented by Jerome Colaco, the President of the Arlem Youth Association.
