SALIGAO: Police have registered an offence against the Managing Director of M/s Hindustan Waste Treatment Pvt. Ltd., which operates at the Solid Waste Management Facility (SWMF) in Saligao, for allegedly discharging untreated effluent into adjoining drains.
According to a complaint filed by Digvijay Dessai, General Manager, Goa Waste Management Corporation, the incident occurred on August 17 at around 7:20 pm.
It is alleged that effluent from the Stage-I Reverse Osmosis (RO) tank was negligently released through the bund wall of the facility during rainfall and under the cover of darkness.
Police said the discharge was of a nature likely to spread infection of diseases dangerous to life.
The offence was registered on Thursday evening at 7:35 pm, and further investigation is in progress.
