PERNEM: Police have booked several persons for allegedly carrying out unauthorised hill cutting on private property in Corgao village without the necessary permissions.
Pernem Police registered FIR No. 42/2025 under sections 17-A and 17-B of the Goa, Daman and Diu Town and Country Planning Act, 1974, based on a complaint filed by Omkar J. Gawas, Planning Draftsman Grade II with the Deputy Town Planner’s office in Pernem.
According to police, prior to 11 May 2023, the accused—identified as Yasin Usman Naik along with other occupants and right holders of land bearing Survey No. 206/1, and Ismail Zickriya Khwaja along with other occupants and right holders of Survey No. 206/2 in Corgao—allegedly carried out illegal hill cutting over an area of approximately 750 square metres with an approximate height of 4 metres.
Police said the work was conducted in low-lying land without obtaining permission from the competent authority, thereby violating Section 17-A of the Goa, Daman and Diu Town and Country Planning Act, 1974. Further investigation is underway.
