PANAJI: The District Magistrate-cum-Adjudicating Officer, North Goa, has imposed a fine of ₹50,000 on M/s Patel Kaju House, located at H. No. 5/155, 1 Umta Vaddo, Calangute, Bardez, for violations of food safety regulations.
According to officials, the establishment was found selling substandard cashew nuts and misbranded food items, besides failing to print mandatory details on product packaging as required under the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011.
The action follows inspection and proceedings initiated by the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), which found the products in contravention of quality and labeling norms. Authorities stated that such enforcement drives are part of ongoing efforts to ensure consumer safety and maintain strict compliance with food standards across the State.
