PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today announced that cash counters at all state government offices will be soon phased out.
CM Sawant was addressing the gathering at the inauguration of New Directorate of Accounts buildings.
“Soon cash counters at all government offices will be stopped. Only online payments to made compulsory.
Sawant said that housing scheme for all government servants to soon start.
The state signed an MoU with Paytm to help various departments go digital by deploying the platform’s features such as QR codes and POS (point of sale) devices.
Sawant said that the state government has signed the MoU with Paytm in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to become a cashless economy.
“The aim of the MoU is to make all government departments offer the cashless payment facility and make all government services available at the click of a button,” Sawant said.
The chief minister said that this MoU will allow government departments to accept digital payments through QR codes and POS devices.
“Paytm will offer the option to the state government to provide e-governance services on the Paytm application that will be accessible to all Paytm users for speedy online payments,” he had said.
