PANAJI: The Corporation of City of Panaji has issued specific guidelines for celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi within the jurisdiction of the city.
CCP Mayor Rohit Monserrate has duly signed all the guidelines stating that all Chitrashallas shall observe social distancing. Arrangements will be made outside the vending point by painting a circle at a 2m distance each. Sale/purchase of plaster of Paris idols is strictly prohibited, and only two persons in a vehicle will be allowed for picking up idols from Chitrashallas.
No special stalls will be erected anywhere in Panaji to sell fireworks/ firecrackers except those permitted by the Corporation. All vendors entering Panaji tor the sale of Matolli items will be placed at
designated areas near Royal Foods from 8 to 10 September 2021 only.
“Public gathering celebration/ artist for Sarvajanik Ganesh shall be limited to 50% capacity or as per the State Government SOP; Ganesh Committees should not use fireworks/ firecrackers so as avoid pollution,” said the SoPs released by the CCP
Further, no celebration in any form shall be allowed in containment zones, if any.
The guidelines also state that only 2-3 members of each house shall be allowed to immerse the idols. All flowers/ garlands/ nirmalaya will be deposited in containers placed at each immersion site and not disposed of in the water bodies.
“No fireworks shall be used at the immersion site Vehicles shall be parked away from the immersion spot to avoid congestion. Citizens are advised to undertake immersion from 5pm-10pm,”
Meanwhile, CCP has strictly said that no procession shall be allowed while bringing the idols to the immersion points No gathering after the immersion shall be allowed.
