PANJIM: Due to financial constraints caused in the wake of Covid Pandemic, the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) on Thursday has decided to put a brake on all developmental works in all 30 wards for the next three months.
The CCP has however cleared that works for which work order is issued already shall be permitted.
Addressing the media, CCP Mayor Uday Madkaikar said, “CCP is facing lot of revenue loss due to delay or slow payment of house tax, licence renewal fees, etc. “Also, several people, who were owing shops, have made applications to cancel their licence,”.
He said, “This is the main reason ccp has decided not to undertake any developmental work in the 30 wards for three months. However, only those works, where work order is issued or tenders have been floated are been allowed,” he said.
Further, the Mayor clarified that during the 3 day statewide lockdown, Panjim Municipal market, fish and meat market and all the shops withing CCP jurisdiction will remain shut.
