PANJIM:The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) will release special standard operating procedure (SOP) for its citizens to celebrate the upcoming Ganesh Chathurti festival, scheduled on August 22.
CCP Mayor Uday Madkaikar today chaired a meeting to discuss and chalk out guidelines for restricting the crowd at the places of immersion and other directions within CCP jurisdiction. The meeting was attended by various authorities.
Post meeting, Madkaikar told reporters that next week CCP will release its detail SOP, which will have to be followed during the festival celebration, especially at time of idol immersion.
“The meeting has decided to restrict the idol immersion timing from 5.00pm to 10.00pm, with only two –three persons per idol,” he said.
Mayor said that four additional immersion points have been identified to ensure that there is no congestion at the existing six points.
Madkaikar said that there will be ban on participation of people above 60 year age during immersion procession.
