PANAJI: CD Fountainhead and Desserts N More Avengers secured impressive victories in the semifinals of the GSB Unity Cup 3.0 cricket tournament to book their places in the final. The matches were played on Saturday at the Dr. Rajendra Prasad Stadium in Margao.
In the first semifinal, CD Fountainhead defeated K K Strikers by eight runs in a closely contested match. Batting first, Fountainhead posted a total of 138 for nine in their allotted 20 overs. Vikrant Prabhu led the scoring with 35 runs, while Aditya Prabhugaonkar contributed 30 and Saeesh Prabhu Desai added 17 to strengthen the innings.
Chasing a target of 139, K K Strikers were bowled out for 130 in 18.5 overs. Aditya Dalal played a remarkable knock of 50 off just 16 deliveries, but the lack of support from the other batters proved costly for his side. Pranav Biche delivered a decisive spell for Fountainhead, taking three wickets for 12 runs in 2.5 overs to help secure the win.
In the second semifinal, Desserts N More Avengers defeated Dempo Challengers by 21 runs. Batting first, the Avengers scored 164 for four in 20 overs. Captain Kaushal Hattangadi anchored the innings with an unbeaten 53, while Pankaj Naik added 37 and Smit Dalvi contributed 27 runs.
Dempo Challengers fought back during the chase but could only reach 143 for nine in their 20 overs. Sumiran Amonkar scored 44 and Vibhav Pai added 41, but the target remained out of reach. Hattangadi also impressed with the ball, claiming three wickets for 18 runs in his four overs.
For the first semifinal, Aditya Prabhugaonkar was named the Desserts N More Player of the Match, while Pranav Biche received the Kamat Realty Hero of the Match award. In the second semifinal, Kaushal Hattangadi earned the Desserts N More Player of the Match honour.
With these results, CD Fountainhead and Desserts N More Avengers will face each other in the final under floodlights, promising an exciting conclusion to the tournament for cricket fans. 🏏
