Panaji: Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade has thanked the Central government for sanctioning ₹1,060.21 crore for the 4-lining of the 7 km stretch from Bhoma to Old Goa on NH-748.
“I extend my heartfelt thanks to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah ji, and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari ji for sanctioning ₹1,060.21 crore for the 4-laning of the 7 km stretch from Bhoma to Old Goa on NH-748,” he said.
This important highway, Tanavde says, previously known as NH-4A, connects NH-48 near Belgaum in Karnataka to NH-66 near Panaji, Goa.
“It serves as a major route for passenger and freight traffic from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka to Goa, he says.
Tanavade says the upgradation will complete the four-laning of the entire Panaji–Khandepar corridor with paved shoulders.
“Considering the congestion and limited road space in areas like Bhoma, Corlim, and Ella, the project includes two elevated corridors covering 4.275 km and 7-metre-wide service roads on both sides,” he said adding the development will significantly improve road safety, reduce traffic jams, and enhance connectivity, giving a major boost to Goa’s infrastructure and economy.
“I once again thank the Central Government for its continued support to Goa’s progress,” he said.
