CANACONA – Stating hundred years old Canacona’s Centro Promotor de Instrucao (CPI) has done the work of showing the way to other institutions in Goa, Dhempe College, Principal Dr. Manoj Kamat, said this institution has not only produced students but have also won their hearts as well.
Speaking further as a keynote speaker at the final day of the closing ceremony of the Centenary Celebrations of CPI, Char-Rasta, Canacona Dr. Kamat said, while the students passed out from CPI has excelled world over, and achieved great excellence , many of these students have attended the different programs of the centenary year celebrations of their village school is itself the acknowledgement of their love shown to the school- Shri Mallikarjun Vidyalaya.
As the Chief minister skipped the function, Canacona MLA and Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar speaking as chief guest on the occasion said that this educational society will always be seen as the one who have made so much contribution in the field of education. This institution has contributed greatly to the education starved taluka of Canacona. Canacona has immensely developed through education’ and went on to congratulate the management of those 100 years..
‘Education creates positivity. We should welcome and accept the change that is happening in education today. The new technology has been supported by Centro Promotor De Instrucao run institutes. Infact, today any person prefers to donate to the temple of learning (Educational Institutes) rather than to donate to a Temple’, said Social Welfare minister Subhash Phaldessai.
Speaking on the occasion, Mallikarjun and Chetan Manju Desai College Chairman Chetan Manju Desai, said that the present CPI Chairman Shamba Desai has visioned the work of the school to face this competitive era. The work done by him (Shamba) in a short span of time is of utmost importance’ Dessai also stated that the history of penance of one hundred years should be known to the people add suggested for publication of a book of this one hundred year period.
A statue of Chhatrapati Shivraya has been erected in front of the entrance of the school. It is a good sign by this school. Shivaji Maharaj had shown his prowess since his 14th year’, stated CMC Chairperson Ramakant Naik Gaonkar calling on the students to take inspiration from Maratha warrior and achieve the goals of life.
Earlier in his welcome speech, CPI Chairman Shamba Naik Desai while giving information about the progress of the organization said that in the beginning of the formation of CPI, Canacona Municipality has donated 500 rupees, Partagal Mutt 500 rupees, and Mallikarjuna Devalaya 50 rupees and went on to expressing his gratitude to the donors who have provided financial assistance for smart classrooms and infrastructure constructions.
At the hands of the dignitaries a Statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the murals depicting the history of the school were unveiled at the entrance of the school complex. Also, the souvenirs made for the closing ceremony of the centenary year were released.
CPI Vice President Sarvanand Bhagat, Secretary Pundlik Naik Gaonkar, Treasurer Ramesh B Komarpant, General Assembly President Rajendra Desai, Secretary Suraj Bhaireli, Head of Souvenir Committee Kamlakar Mhalshi, members Samrat Bhagat, Babuso Desai, Anil Desai, Achiket Gaonkar, Vinod Sawat, Babaji Sawant, Premanand Gaonkar, Adv. Pratibha Gane, Principal Varsha Gaonkar, Varsha Naik, Principal Vihar Desai, Krishna Rao Gaonkar, Nagesh Komarpant, Suchendra Desai, Satish Desai, Anil Phaldesai, Gaurish Bhaireli, Ram Desai were present.
On this occasion, the former students of the school, who have shown merit in various fields, were felicitated with shawls, shrifal and souvenirs.
The dignitaries were introduced by teachers Melvin Fernandes, Kanchan Naik, while felicities were introduced by Deepa Desai. The program was moderated by Manoj Naik Gaonkar and General Assembly President Rajendra Desai proposed a vote of thanks.
