PANAJI: The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer has clarified in respect of the article appeared in the Marathi local daily “Lokmat” dated February 26, 2025 with the caption “Matadar Yadimadhe Nava Ghol” that in order to ensure error free electoral roll in Devnagari, the Booth Level Officers are obtaining form 8 pertaining to those few electoral entries which have incorrect characters with respect to Devnagari version of electoral roll.
However, the corresponding electoral entries in the English E-roll are correct. These entries in the Devnagari can be corrected by way of Form 8 which are being collected from the electors by the Booth Level Officers.
CEO has further clarified that none of these entries can be deleted on the basis of the reason stated above i.e improper Devnagari version and this exercise is taken by the EROs/AEROs only for sake of providing pure and error free Electoral Roll.
The office of the District Election Officer are committed to provide error free Electoral Roll. It is reiterated that there is a prescribe procedure for deletion of electoral entries and no deletions from the Electoral Roll can be carried out without following the due procedure.
