Porvorim: Porvorim Police have swiftly arrested a 44-year-old man from Gujarat in connection with a chain-snatching incident reported just three days ago in the PDA Colony area of Porvorim.
According to the complaint lodged by a local woman, the incident occurred on July 24 at around 5:30 PM. An unidentified man, approximately 45 years old, with a light complexion and mustache, dressed in a sky-blue shirt and wearing a black helmet, arrived at her residence on a grey Activa scooter. Posing as a courier delivery agent, he informed the woman that he had a parcel addressed to someone named Harihar. When the complainant approached the gate to receive the delivery, the accused suddenly snatched her gold chain weighing 20 grams and valued at ₹1.8 lakh, and fled from the scene.
Following an investigation led by PSI Arun Shirodkar of Porvorim Police Station, the accused was identified as Ranpariya Ajay Hasmukhbhai, son of Hasmukhbhai Ranpariya, a resident of Samruddhi Complex, Vijalpore, Navsari, Gujarat. He was arrested on July 27 at 3:32 PM.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
