Margao: The “Chakchakit Margao” clean-up drive launched by Madganvcho Awaaz under the leadership of youth leader Prabhav Naik is steadily gaining momentum, with its second mission carried out in support of the “Aamche Malbhat” initiative.
The drive witnessed the lifting and clearing of large piles of garbage, including garden waste, plastic and other debris, bringing much-needed relief to local residents who had been facing unhygienic conditions for days.
Encouraged by the growing response from the community, Prabhav Naik said that the “Chakchakit Margao” mission will now be extended to other wards, with a continued focus on ensuring cleaner surroundings and better public health.
He expressed concern over the failure of the Margao Municipal Council to address garbage issues effectively, stating that despite repeated complaints, timely action had not been taken, forcing citizens and social groups to step in.
Naik further added that the first mission conducted last week also saw a significant amount of waste being collected, highlighting the urgent need for a more responsible and proactive approach from the civic body to maintain cleanliness in the city.
