CANACONA – With the recent Education Department circular coming as a breather to the several space crunch Anganwadi and Balwadi’s, it has become a challenge to the various High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools to accommodate tiny tots in their premised in Canacona.
According to CDPO Canacona, 55 out of 83 Canacona Anganwadis are functioning on rented premises, while 09 of them are run in their own construction/GPS, besides 19 others are run/operated by Individuals/Self-Help Groups/Community (within their Community -7 and their Own Premises -12).
A total of 926 children (Tiny Tots) catered by 83 Workers and 80 Helpers are enrolled in these 83 different Anganwadis and Balwadi’s functioning and operated in various rural as well Canacona town areas.
Effectively, GovernmentGovernment is reportedly looking to accommodate 55 Anganwadis of Canacona taluka, and accordingly, the Director of Education has called upon the Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools to identify by 5th August the numbers of Anganwadi or Balwadi’s in their vicinities and how many many they are in a position to adopt the same.
According to sources, there are 19 High Schools (Secondary) and 5 Higher Secondary Schools located in different parts of the taluka, out of which 6 are GovernmentGovernment owned secondary schools and one Higher Secondary School. In comparison, the rest are Aided Schools, including 4 Higher Secondary Schools.
Interestingly, according to sources, most of the government High Schools and the lone and newly constructed government Higher Secondary schools have ample space to accommodate more than one Anganwadi or Balwadi functioning in their vicinity; most of the aided schools in Canacona are known to function congested and unable to accommodate their own pupils with their premises having limited accommodation.
It is, however, to be seen as to how many of these aided Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools will opt to accommodate Anganwadi/Balwadi in the taluka and take forward the government legacy of imparting quality education at the foundation stage considered as the most important development stage in the development of the individual.
