MARGAO: Chandrawaddo Boys, Fatorda got the better of Papa Boys, St Jose de Areal 7-6 via tiebreaker to enter the semifinal of the 4th All-Goa Inter-village open football tournament, organised by Davorlim Sports and Cultural Club, played at Davorlim Club ground.
Papa Boys opened the account in the 10th minute of the game through Wellington Faleiro with neat placement while Chandrawaddo fined the equaliser the very next minute through ace striker Francis Andrade whose powerful left-footer deflected Areal’s defence and beat goalkeeper Joseph Monteiro.
At half time, the score line was tied 1-1.
In the second session, Areal took the lead in the 40th minute with Raymon Fernandes’s left footer crushed in the net beating Carol Soares goalkeeper of Chandrawaddo.
The much-needed equalizer came from the header of Hanshlum Furtado in the dying minutes of the game. Areal had the upper hand in the match but their strikers failed to capitalise on the opportunity and the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
