Margao: In a bid to promote active living and connect young people with nature, Congress leader from Margao Chirag Datta Naik on Sunday organised a trek to the scenic Chandreshwar Parvat. The event drew 25 enthusiastic participants, turning a monsoon morning into an energising blend of fitness, exploration, and community spirit.
The trekkers assembled at the Chandreshwar Temple Arch at 7 am, setting off through lush greenery under the cool monsoon breeze. Led by experienced trekker Rahul Prabhudesai and coordinated by Raunak Nargundker, the expedition was marked by well-planned safety measures and seamless organisation.
Participants were also treated to complimentary trekking T-shirts and refreshment packs, adding to the camaraderie and enthusiasm of the day.
Addressing the group, Naik highlighted the need for more such outdoor activities.
“Our youth spend far too much time in front of screens. Trekking not only reveals the natural beauty of Goa but also builds teamwork, fitness, and mental well-being,” he said, adding that regular nature-based activities would be organised to keep young Goans engaged and active.
By 11 am, the group returned from the summit — tired but inspired — with several participants expressing eagerness to join upcoming treks.
The initiative, Naik said, is part of a broader push to foster a healthier, more outdoor-oriented lifestyle among Goa’s youth while showcasing the state’s lesser-known natural treasures.
