Margao: A youth-focused trekking initiative organised by Congress leader Chirag Datta Naik drew enthusiastic participation on Sunday, as 25 trekkers gathered for a scenic and invigorating trek to Chandreshwar Parvat. The event aimed to promote an active lifestyle and deepen young people’s connection with nature.
Participants assembled at the Chandreshwar Temple Arch at 7:00 am, setting off on the trek through lush green terrain and misty monsoon air. The initiative, led by seasoned trekker Rahul Prabhudesai and coordinated by Raunak Nargundker, ensured smooth and safe execution. Each participant received a trekking T-shirt and a refreshments packet as part of the experience.
Speaking at the event, Chirag Datta Naik said, “Our youth spend far too much time in front of screens. Activities like trekking not only help them discover the beauty of our state but also encourage teamwork, fitness, and a healthy lifestyle.” He emphasized the need for more outdoor activities that engage young people in a meaningful way.
The trek concluded by 11:00 am, with many participants expressing eagerness to join similar future initiatives. Naik assured that more such community-based nature events would be organised regularly to encourage fitness and outdoor engagement among Goa’s youth.
