CANACONA: The long-pending repair, renovation, and construction works of the Community Health Centre (CHC) residential quarters, staff hospital, and approach road in Canacona have finally begun.
The projects, worth a total of ₹1.83 crore, were inaugurated on Saturday by Minister for Tribal Welfare, Art & Culture, and Sports & Youth Affairs Ramesh Tawadkar. On the same day, he also inaugurated the construction of a new road at Loliem-Kazalkewada.
At CHC Canacona, three residential quarters for doctors are being repaired and renovated at a cost of ₹1.02 crore. Additionally, the approach road to the CHC quarters is being developed at ₹4.85 lakh, while urgent repair and renovation works of the staff hospital building are being taken up at a cost of ₹37.20 lakh. Alteration works at the RTO premises in the KTC bus stand have also been completed at ₹20.71 lakh.
The inaugural function at Canacona was attended by Dy. Collector Pratap Gaonkar, Health Officer Dr. Jose Tavares, PWD Engineer Marathe, councillors Simon Rebelo, Hemant Naik Gaunkar, Nitu Desai, Dhiraj Naik Gaunkar, Supriya Desai, BJP (Block) General Secretary Diwakar Pagui, and several other officials and local leaders.
At Loliem-Polem, the road inauguration was witnessed by Sarpanch Nisha Chari, Deputy Sarpanch Chandrakant Sudhir, Panch Ajay Loliemkar, Councillor Rama Naik Gaonkar, Executive Engineer Swapnil Gawas Desai, South Goa BJP Vice President Mahesh Naik, along with a large gathering of villagers.
