PANAJI: A chest containing crores worth treasure including gold jewellery, antique coins, household and religious utensils etc was unearthed at the Directorate of Accounts Dept office in the Fazenda building in Panaji by the state archaeology department.
Samples from the treasure will be kept for display in the state museum informed CM Sawant.
The chest contains 5000 antique coins, gold weighing 2.234 Kg and several household and religious items.
As per the records found in the chest, it was previously opened way back in 1992.
Sawant announced that the chest, dating back decades, contains a trove of valuable items, including 5000 antique coins and approximately 2.234 kilograms of gold.
Additionally, numerous household and religious utensils were found within the chest, painting a vivid picture of life in bygone eras.
According to records found alongside the treasure, the chest had been previously opened in 1992, adding to the intrigue surrounding its contents and origins.
Samples from this astonishing find will be preserved for display in the State Museum, offering the public a glimpse into the cultural and historical significance of the artifacts.
