VASCO: Chicalim joggers park is in shambles with broken benches, dead trees, damaged play area for the children. The facility needs immediate attention from the authorities.
The existing jogger’s park at Chicalim behind SMRC hospital needs immediate repair work. Just after 6 years, the condition of the existing infrastructure, which was built in the first phase, has been taking a beating from nature.
A visit to this park revealed that the benches in this park area were broken, and the play area surface at the children’s play area was damaged. The trees and plants from this garden are half dead due to the poor maintenance.
When contacted Viriato Fernandes, Congress leader from Dabolim, he said that it looks like there is a scam behind this joggers park. The park, which was built a few years back, is in poor condition and neglected by the authorities.
He further said that when the local panchayat is crying about the lack of funds, how the panchayat will do the maintenance of this park. The current first phase is not being kept in good condition then how the bigger infrastructure that will come up in the second and third phases will be maintained by the panchayat, he questioned.
Shubhangi, a young girl who had come along with her friends, said that although the jogger’s park is spacious, there should be timely maintenance. She said that there is a need for the up-gradation of this park.
