VASCO: The Chicalim Sub District Hospital (SDH) has begun administering the antibody cocktail to Covid patients and doctors said the results have been very positive.
Speaking to reporters, Dr Vivek Pillai of Chicalim SDH said the State government had procured the antibody cocktail, which is the latest treatment for Covid patients.
“This is a very costly dose but we have got it for free and this is one of the best treatments available. We are administering it for elderly patients who have co-morbidity or patients who are immuno-compromised and are also infected with Covid.”
“The patients have to come within the first five days of symptoms as the cocktail is ineffective if administered after five days,” said Dr Pillai.
Dr Pillai said the SDH had started giving these antibody cocktails since June 14 and had successfully given it to eight patients.
“All these patients are doing well after this dose and we are also monitoring them on phone as well. This is a wonderful drug and will be a game changer to save more lives,” Dr Pillai added.
