The convenor and leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, Rahul Mhambre has severely criticized Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for his complete failure and visible inability to handle the law and order situation in Goa. Mhambre said in his press conference addressing the media that the law and order situation has completely collapsed under the chief ministership of Pramod Sawant, who also happens to hold the home ministry office under him. Sawant as a Chief Minister has completely failed to take charge of the law and order scenario in the state and therefore should resign immediately from his office, Mhambre mentioned.
Mhambre said, “The law and order situation in our tiny state of Goa has been deteriorating day by day. It is a cause of grave concern that cases of drug peddling, rave parties, bettings, broad daylight murders have become the order of the day.”
“Mr. Pramod Sawant, who is the “Part Time” Home Minister cum Chief Minister of our state has no clue about the crime scenario in the state, can be seen giving very vague and sluggish replies, everytime he is questioned about the rising criminal cases in Goa. The state has witnessed a series of grave crimes in the past two months. A gold jeweller was murdered in Margao in a broad day light, almost one and a half month back. A dilapidated body of a two year old infant girl was found on Siridao beach, almost 20 days back and the police seem to be helpless in cracking the case. Moreover, in spite of registering the case as a murder, they have registered the case as a body found. That shows the casual and sheer lazy attitude of the police system and officials to investigate the cases and find out the truth. Rave parties, drug parties and bettings have become the order of the day in Goa and such parties are held in the coastal areas of Goa in which high amounts of dangerous and illegal drugs are consumed and peddled.
The Chief Minister and the police have completely failed to nab the drug peddlers and break the drug mafia-politicians-businessmen nexus in Goa which has been doing rounds as serious issue through various media, discussions and debates for last couple of years, Mhambre said.
A young person was burnt alive at Torda at Porvorim just 2 days back and police have still not been able to investigate and arrest the culprits. This shows that as the law and order situation has collapsed there is an increase in such nefarious activities and crime being committed.
The police administration should take steps to improve patrolling, beats to restore confidence amongst the people of Goa.
It has been found that the deceased person had complainned about the irregularities and illegal activities happening in the building owned by the concerned builder. The deceased, late Vilas Methar had also filed an RTI application in this regard and was planning to carry forward the case for investigations against the builder. It is unfornuate that he was killed before he could go ahead with his complaints. AAP demands and immediate inquiry into this and nab the culprits involved in this heinous crime of murder, Mhambare added.
Aam Aadmi Party demands an immediate resignation of the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, as he is not able to control and take charge of the deteriorating law and order situation in Goa, Mhambre said.
