PANAJI: Amidst the controversy surrounding the land conversions in Goa, the Goa Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel has landed in the eye of the storm for allegedly converting around 1800 sq mt of paddy field at Aldona.
The Goa Congress said it will gherao the Chief Secretary
Puneet Kumar Goel over the alleged paddy field conversion at Aldona.
“It appears that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is not only enabling the Land & Real Estate Mafia but also involving government officials in the systematic land-grabbing scheme across the State of Goa,” said GPCC President Amit Patkar.
Patkar said BJP Goa Govt Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel must clarify the illegal conversion of paddy field property with Survey No. 36/1 in Aldona village under Section 17/2.
If he fails to do so, he should step down immediately. Will Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai intervene or remain a silent spectator? asked Patkar.
AICC leader Girish Chodankar vehemently demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi take swift and decisive action by dismissing Dr. Pramod Sawant Vishwajit Rane, and Purneet Goel for their blatant and ongoing assault on Goa’s land integrity.
“These top officials have perpetuated a gross abuse of power, facilitating the large conversion of 2500000 square meters of green land in Goa in just 17 months, paving the way for rampant corruption, cronyism and destruction of Goa,” he charged.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and TCP Minister have turned Goa into a playground for corruption, enabling IAS officer Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel to profit from dubious real estate deals.
“The acquisition of 1,875 square meters of riverside land in Aldona by Goel, along with an illegally constructed bungalow, reeks of corruption and demands a thorough investigation into corruption, money laundering, and the disproportionate accumulation of assets,” he said.
This brazen conflict of interest and abuse of authority cannot be tolerated. We demand that the Prime Minister takes immediate action to hold the CM and TCP Minister accountable for facilitating wholesale land conversion rates for ministers, MLAs, top officials, and land sharks, jeopardizing Goa’s future for personal gain, he said.
