PANAJI: The Children’s Court has ordered 20-year-old Soham Naik to remain in judicial custody for 14 days in connection with a second case involving alleged sexual assault of a minor.
Naik, the son of BJP-supported Curchorem-Cacora councillor Sushant Naik, is currently facing five separate FIRs. Police records indicate that four of these cases involve allegations linked to minor victims, while in one case both the complainant and the accused were adults at the time of the alleged incident.
The Crime Branch, which is handling the investigation, has stated that the accused is believed to have committed the alleged offences over a span of nearly three years, targeting multiple victims during this period.
Naik, a resident of Madhegal in Cacora, was arrested on March 21 after public protests erupted outside the Curchorem Police Station, where locals had gathered demanding swift action in the case.
