Chimbel: Residents of Chimbel have stepped up their agitation against the proposed Unity Mall and Prashasan Stambh projects, citing serious concerns over environmental harm and the threat to local biodiversity.
Protesters warn that the projects could lead to the destruction of Toyaar Lake and irreversibly disturb the area’s fragile ecological system.
Villagers gathered near the proposed project site, holding placards and staging demonstrations to reiterate their demand that both projects be scrapped.
Outlining the next phase of the agitation, residents announced a gherao of the Chimbel Panchayat on December 26.
The protest will intensify further with a hunger strike beginning on December 28. To rally wider public support, villagers have also planned a large-scale procession across various wards of Chimbel on January 1.
The agitation will culminate in a Maha Sabha scheduled for January 4.
