SANCOALE: Former Congress president Girish Chodankar has expressed disappointment over the government’s lackadaisical response and medical surveillance of Premanad Naik, a former Sarpanch, whose health is deteriorating rapidly.
He condemned insensitive attitude of CM Dr Pramod Sawant despite a prominent citizen is on fast to death for last nine days.
Naik is on an indefinite hunger strike demanding the government to revoke the permissions granted to Bhutani for a mega housing project.
Chodankar has voiced grave concerns, necessitating immediate intervention from Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant regarding crucial issues affecting local residents.
He beseeched the Chief Minister for expeditious action to address Naik’s demands and those of the villagers, whilst underscoring the critical need to safeguard his health and rights.
The predicament warrants prompt resolution to restore harmony in the Sancoale community in an email addressed to CM and Governor drawing their attention to deteriorating health of Naik and his pressing demy.
He also wrote to South District Hospital for immediate medical attention to Naik’s health.
“Local residents are opposing a large-scale development project comprising 720 units with individual swimming pools on an NDZ hill. The development will adversely impact the village’s natural landscape, water systems, ecosystem, and existing infrastructure,” Chodankar stated.
He asserted that government ought to protect the state’s green cover and not facilitate the destruction of the hills.
While replying to media question he said he will take lead to bring all opposition parties together to save Goa.
