BICHOLIM: The residents of Chorao fear that apathy of the government to repair the bandh of Kawa khazan will lead to washing off the road leading to Pomburpa ferry.
It may be stated that since last several years the road leading to Pomburpa gets submerged as saline water enters the fields. Such has been the condition that the road is slowly giving way and residents fear that soon they would not have any road if this situation continues.

“At Chodan a road leading to Pomburpa ferry is dividing Katar khazan and Kawa khazan. Since last two years the bandh of Kawa khazan has been damaged and entire salty water enters this land. As there is no other way for the water to go it enters and floods the entire road leading to Pomburpa ferry.” Sanjay Kandolkar told.
During high tide entire road is submerged and there is no access to the ferry. “Some take the risk to enter the water but most of them prefer to either take Ribandar ferry or Calvem ferry to go out of the village.” Sanjay told.
He told that since last lmany years they have appealed to the lgovernment for repairing the band but all their pleas have fallen on deaf ears. “Every years we are given false assurances. We demand that government should resolve this issue else we would have to take action in this regard” Sanjay told.
When contacted the Mayem MLA, Pravin Zantye told that the tender of the said road is already taken and work will begin soon.
