VASCO: An Illegal use of domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes came to light during a late evening inspection near the Vasco railway station on 16.03.2026 at 19:15 hrs, when officials from the Civil Supplies Department detected violations at a local food outlet.
According to the complaint filed by Assistant Director of Civil Supplies, Mormugao Taluka, Tulshidas Dabholkar, the inspection team found that the proprietor of Star Fast Food, Saif Shaikh, was using two domestic LPG cylinders of BPCL for commercial cooking, in violation of norms. The accused, a resident of Vasco, was found operating the establishment using subsidised domestic cylinders meant strictly for household use.
Following the complaint, Vasco police registered an offence against the accused under Sections 3 and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. The misuse of domestic LPG for commercial activities is considered a serious violation, as it leads to diversion of subsidised resources and poses safety concerns.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Nikhil Dessai of the Vasco police station under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
