Mapusa: A Class IX schoolboy has been rusticated for three days by the school management after allegedly assaulting his 14-year-old classmate inside a Mapusa-based school over a dispute related to fees.
The incident reportedly took place on Thursday at around 10.30 am when the accused student allegedly took the victim to a school toilet and assaulted him. The attack was noticed after another student heard the victim’s cries, rushed to the spot, rescued him, and alerted teachers.
The injured boy was immediately shifted to the North Goa District Hospital, Mapusa, where he is undergoing treatment. Medical examinations were carried out to assess the severity of the injuries.
Later in the evening, the victim’s parents lodged a complaint with the Mapusa Police. Based on the complaint, police have forwarded a report to the Juvenile Justice Board for further proceedings.
Following the incident, the school management initiated disciplinary action and rusticated the accused student for three days. However, the victim’s parents have raised concerns over the adequacy of the punishment, alleging that the accused student has been involved in similar violent incidents in the past. They have demanded stricter action, including expulsion, citing fears for their child’s safety once the student returns to school.
Police have confirmed that the matter is under investigation and further action will be taken as per procedure.
