PANAJI: As COVID-19 has gripped the state, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today has announced cancellation of class X board examination. All students to be promoted based in internal marks.
CM also informed that decsion on class XII examination will be taken soon.
Addressing the media, CM Sawant said that due to the pandemic, Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHE) has cancelled class x examination.
“All STD X students will be promoted based on their internal marks, those students intending to opt for Science and Diplomas will have to undergo one day examination which is likely to be held in July,” said Sawant
Since XIIth Std students appear for JEE and NEET examinations, the decision will be taken in consultation with the Central government.
“Students and their parents were under tremendous pressure about their future. We have come to this conclusion based on the recommendations of the committee of educationists was formed to study the matter and consultation with the Human Resource ministry”, said CM
Sawant said that he attended the high level meeting via video conferencing chaired by Union Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh today morning to discuss various issues related to board and professional course entrance examinations.
GBSHSE had earlier made the announcement of postponing the Goa board exams 2021 for Class 10 and Class 12 students in view of the rise in Covid-19 cases across the state.
The class 10 and 12 board examinations 2021 were scheduled to begin on April 24
Students of Class X and XII had been protesting across the state demanding cancelletion or postponement of board exam in view of rise in COVID cases.
The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Goa has urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to postpone the Senior Secondary Certificate (SSC) and Higher Senior Secondary Certificate (HSSC) exams until the entire student community is vaccinated against COVID-19.
