PORVORIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Monday informed the State Legislative Assembly that the commencement of the classes for new first year students entry to second year courses is scheduled from October 15.
Responding to a question raised by MGP MLA Ramakrishna Sudin Dhavalikar, Chief Minister said that the decision regarding reopening of schools for the Academic Year 2020-2021 will be taken after the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) permits the children in schools.
“Also, it will be followed by guidelines issued by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will be used to frame state specific guidelines,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sawant said that as per the AICTE circular Technical Education Institutes and Colleges have to reopen for students on online mode from August 17.
“The guidelines issued by Government of India, UGC and AICTE shall be followed as regards Technical Institutions. The Academic Year 2020-21 has been tentatively scheduled to commence from August 17,” he added.
CM also said that a Special Ordinance has been framed to the conduct of the Academic Programme during the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, CM also infomred that a decision is taken to delay commencement of the New Academic year to August 2020.
