CANACONA: The Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC), Alto Porvorim, in association with the Community Health Centre (CHC) Canacona, organised a massive cleanliness drive in the CHC campus on Saturday.
Over 130 participants, including GHRDC security personnel, 15 PWD workers, doctors, nursing and administrative staff of CHC, Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), and several prominent social workers—among them CMC Councillor Shubham Komarpant and Damodar Chari—took part in the initiative.
The drive involved clearing overgrown bushes and creepers, trimming grass, and cleaning the surroundings of the sprawling but poorly maintained campus. The participants worked continuously for over three hours on Saturday morning.
“‘Swachh Bharat, Nitol Goem.’ The CHC campus had become overrun with bushes and creepers, making it unhygienic. This initiative aims to make the Canacona Health Centre surroundings clean and healthy. Cleanliness drives should not be limited to October 2, but carried out regularly—at least once a week—to keep our taluka and state clean and green,” said Councillor Komarpant.
He also urged CHC authorities to develop the open space in front of the CHC building into a garden, creating a welcoming and serene environment for patients and visitors.
GHRDC Senior Security Officer Pandurang Pagui said the main objective of the initiative was to maintain cleanliness and hygiene within the campus.
Among the active participants were Br. Prashant, Dr. Classy Furtado, Dr. Vinoo, Sr. Swarupa, SI Sunay Komarpant, Suraj Komarpant, and Gourish.
