Panjim: While BJP government in the state has borrowed thousand of rupees to run the show, its chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Urban Development Minister Milind Naik are illegally selling iron ore estimated to crores of rupees for personal benefits, alleged Goa Pradesh Congress Commitee President Girish Chodankar.
“This is clear-cut case of corruption, where Chief Minister is also benefiting from Milind Naik. Hence, he is safeguarding him. Both have done huge loss to state exchequer by illegally selling ore.” Chodankar lambasted.
It may be recalled that GPCC Vice President Sankalp Amonkar had persistently demanded probe into the illegalities. However, there is no sign from government to go ahead with it. “Government will not order investigation into this matter as illegalities and corruption by Chief Minister and Urban Development Minister would be exposed.” Chodankar pointed out.
According to Chodankar, Mormugao MLA Milind Naik’s firms M N Construction (MNC) Stevedoring is involved in illegal excavation, screening, transportation and loading of iron ore, without necessary permits from DMG at MPT. The iron ore illegally handled is almost to the tune of 3.50 crore.
“If this ore was e-auctioned (earlier), which means it was a final product, then why there was a need for excavation and screening of the e-auctioned ore again by bringing equipments inside the MPT.” Chodankar questioned.
Chodankar said that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is aware about the contracts and businesses of Milind Naik in MPT. “Chief Minister is protecting him only because he is also gaining out of the illegal deal at MPT.” Chodankar said.
“Governments mismanagement in various areas, borrowings and other factors have plunged the State economy in depression. However, Chief Minister and his minister are busy working only for self gain making loss to state revenue.” Chodankar said.
“Goans are prudent and knows the fact that Chief Minister is trying to divert the issue by levelling allegations against Congress over this issue.” Chodankar said.
