Highlighting the State Governments commitment to delivering Government of India e-Services to rural and remote locations where availability of computers and Internet was negligible or mostly absent through Common Service Centres, CM of Goa, Dr Pramod Sawant made a visit to the CSC at Velguem village in Bicholim Taluka of Goa. Mr Avdhut Dhond the Village Level Entrepreneur (VLE) explained to the CM about the facilities and the number of transactions completed in the last 2 years.
Mr Avdhut Dhond started the CSC at Velguem, Bicholim in October 2018. CM Dr Pramod Sawant was apprecaitive of the fact that the CSC has so far delivered nearly 3000 plus services to the people under state and central government schemes and programs such as Jeevan Praman (Life Certificate), National Pension Scheme, Income Tax Returns, PAN Card, PMJAY (Ayushman Bharat), Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Praman Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan, Diginame, Indian Railways ticket booking etc. The CSC has also been responsible for making available the benefits under Skill Development & National Digital Literacy Mission and PM-DISHA free facility for more than 300 students in the region.
CSCs are multiple-services-single-point model for providing facilities for multiple transactions at a single geographical location. They serve as access points for delivery of essential public utility services, social welfare schemes, healthcare, financial, education and agriculture services, apart from host of B2C services to citizens in rural and remote areas of the country. It is a pan-India network catering to regional, geographic, linguistic and cultural diversity of the country, thus enabling the Government’s mandate of a socially, financially and digitally inclusive society.
CM Dr Pramod Sawant has time and again emphasised on the role and importance of the CSCs in delivering the promise of ‘Antyodaya’ of the Central and State Government. He once again re-iterated the focus of the state government to establish a CSC in every village panchayat of Goa and deliver citizen related services of the state government including schemes to the needy. He has instructed the concerned officials to take immediate steps to incorporate the VLEs and CSCs into the Atmanirbhar Bharat – Swayampurna Goa mission which aims to make a self-reliant Goa through intervention at village level.
