PANAJI: The Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant, Chaired a meeting of the Empowered Working Group (EWG ) for the cause of Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa and reviewed the achievement of individual stakeholders of the Swayampurna mission yesterday.
The Chief Minister insisted that each department adopt at least one village and implement all the schemes in that village and said that each HOD should visit the village at least once a week to reach the ground level. He cited cases as to how common men are unaware of schemes of Animal Husbandry and stressed that officers should go to the people and not the other way round.
Dr. Sawant suggested proper utilization of funds underscored the need to have a time-bound action plan. The publicity of the Swayampurna Goa programme should be undertaken throughout the State. He stressed the need to organize special Gram Sabhas in the Forest Department, Swayampurna Goa and Ann Mahotsav, etc.
The Chief Minister further suggested appointing a Nodal officer from each department for Swaympurna Goa due to the magnitude of work, inter departmental links, and smooth functioning of the project. Collective consciousness is the main boosting force for self-reliance, he reiterated.
The General Secretary DRID Shri Atul Jain, informed with excerpts from Prime Minister’s Speech of 15th August, 2020 relevant to Goa and felt that the objective of Swaympurna Goa can be adopted effectively. Collective efforts are very much required to accomplish this goal, he pointed.
Concept of traditional wisdom with modern tools was explained by Atul Jain. He further briefed about important water missions of the central Govt. and other schemes.
It was decided that there is a need to compile important data on Goa about Geographical resources, Demography, Water resources, Forest resources, Agricultural produce, Horticultural produce, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Tourism industry, Other Industry, Transportation and Other Economic Indicators etc.
