Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today assured the Assembly that his office will actively monitor and address the issue of Goans detained in the United States for overstaying visas or working without proper documentation.
The assurance came in response to a Zero Hour Mention by AAP MLA Venzy Viegas, who raised concerns about the plight of Goans currently held in US detention centers. MLA Viegas urged the government to take immediate steps to help evacuate and support those affected.
CM Sawant stated that the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) will closely follow up with relevant authorities, including the US consulate, to ensure the welfare and speedy resolution of the issue. He emphasized the government’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of Goans abroad.
