PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant chaired a comprehensive review meeting on Health Department issues, in the presence of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Ministers Mauvin Godinho, Digambar Kamat, Ramesh Tawadkar and Subhash Phaldesai, along with the Chief Secretary, Secretary (Health), Director of Health Services and other senior officials.
The meeting focused on key measures to strengthen healthcare delivery across the state. Among the major decisions was the initiation of services aimed at enhancing critical care capacity and the upgradation of Emergency and Trauma Centres to improve emergency response systems.
To address staff shortages, the government will onboard Medical Officers, Casualty Medical Officers, nurses, MTS staff and technicians. Steps will also be taken to strengthen Sub-District Hospitals by bridging gaps in manpower and infrastructure. Senior officials have been directed to conduct site visits to ensure immediate infrastructure upgrades wherever required.
The Sub-District Hospital at Sanguem will be inaugurated shortly, and a dialysis unit will be set up at the new facility. The government will also induct new ambulances into the healthcare system and provide office vehicles and essential equipment to medical officers to improve operational efficiency.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the Chief Minister stated that ensuring accessible, efficient and quality healthcare services for every citizen of Goa remains a priority. He emphasized that the focus will remain on upgrading infrastructure, filling critical vacancies and strengthening emergency and specialized care across all districts.
