Panaji: In a move aimed at improving public access to justice in digital fraud cases, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that all police stations across Goa will be instructed to register cyber crime complaints and forward them to the dedicated Cyber Crime Police Station for further investigation.
Sawant said he will direct Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Kumar to ensure the implementation of this system across the state. “Complainants should not be made to run from one place to another to file a cyber crime complaint. Every police station must accept FIRs related to cyber offences and pass them on to the Cyber Cell,” Sawant stated.
The Chief Minister’s direction comes amid a sharp rise in cyber-related crimes such as online fraud, phishing, identity theft, and digital scams. He also urged citizens to remain alert and cautious while using digital platforms and avoid falling prey to fraudulent schemes.
The new protocol is expected to streamline the complaint process, reduce delays, and ensure that cyber crimes are addressed efficiently by the specialised unit equipped to handle such offences.
